Sisters Carly and Melissa McCrindle (Nithsdale AC) took part in this event for Dumfries High School in the Group B and S1 competitions respectively.

Carly went into this competition with medal aspirations and was always thereabouts. She started off well with a 14.27 PB in the 80m Hurdles, which put her in 4th place. She followed that up with 3rd place in the Shot with 6.87m, also a PB. Her Long Jump was a decent effort with 4.04, although slightly down on her PB. This kept her position in 4th place, despite finishing 5th in that event. Her HJ was better with 1.49m, 1cm outside her PB. This was the 3rd best in the competition and she narrowly missed out on 1.52 as well. The final event was the dreaded 800m, where Carly ran to her best time in years of 2:45.02. This was the 2nd best time in the event and Carly placed 4th overall, an agoniszing 3 points off 3rd place.

Melissa competed in the S1 Triathlon of High Jump, Shot and 600m. She did well in each event, placing 5th in the HJ with 1.18, 5th in the Shot with 5.30 and 6th in the 600m with 2:09.76. She finished 6th overall.
