Nottingham Intercounties - 07/03/09
3 D & G athletes competed at the main domestic event of the cross country season.
Nicola Hood (VP-Glasgow) rounded off her superb season with an 8th place in the Under 20 Women's Race. She went with the early pace and battled hard to improve from 27th last year. She will be slightly disappointed to narrowly miss out on a World Cross Country place but it was still a major improvement. She was 3rd counter for the Scotland West team who went on to win team gold. She was also 4th in the overall McCain Cross Challenge Series.
Winner: Lilly Partridge (AFD) 22:55
5 Beth Potter (VP-Glasgow) 23:13
7 Josephine Moultrie (VP-Glasgow) 23:27
8 Nicola Hood (VP-Glasgow) 23:32
22 Danielle Brown (Springburn) 24:40
Equally impressive was Joanna Muir (Stewartry AC). She finished 20th in the Under 15 Girls Race and was once again top Scot. This was a massive improvement of 50th place last year and underlines her good form going into the track season.
Winner: Emelia Gorecka (AFD) 14:22
20 Joanna Muir (Stewartry) 15:46
David Vernon (Nithsdale AC) ran well to finish 32nd despite recovering from illness. Although he was beaten by several other Scottish runners, David will still be in the Under 17 age group next year and will be competitive. The Scotland West team again took top honours.
