Wishaw
09/05/09

On a wet Saturday, 7 ADAC athletes joined with a Nithsdale AC athlete competed in the first Superteams Championships for Under 13 athletes. Out of the boys and girls teams it was the boys team of Kieran Saunders, Lewis Holliday, Lee Dunion and Angus Johnstone who were the most successful, picking up a bronze medal. The girls team of Emma Back, Catriona Pringle, Shannon Dunion and Charley Donaldson didn't fare quite as well but it was a good day for all involved, in spite of the torrential rain.

The ADAC boys started off well with Kieran Saunders and Angus Johnstone posting the 2nd and 3rd fastest times of the day. They recorded 2:29.06 and 2:31.75 respectively, both earning new PBs. They were backed up by Lewis Hollidays' 2:53.50 and Lee Dunion's 3:06.56. In the Long Jump it was once again Kieran and Angus who led the way with 3.72m and 3.63m. They were followed by 3.25m by Lewis and 3.13m by Lee. Next up was the controversial Turbo Javelin. Angus and Kieran both threw 16m and were closely followed by Lee (14m) and Lewis (12m). After a long day, it was time for the boys to join forces as a 4x100m relay team. They managed to get the baton round safely and finished 3rd in 59.55. With all the points combined, the boys gained a well deserved bronze medal for their efforts, behind VP-Glasgow and Law & District.
